  Unit 3    Who is taller?
  Students   Description: Grade Six
  Students   Level:  Level   Two
  Teaching   Materials: Lesson 1, Unit  3, Book 5,Langman
  Teaching   Objectives: After this period, the students will be able to
  1.学生能听,说,读,写big ,small,heavy,light等生词,并了解其含义。
  2.能初步掌握形容词比较级的变化形式及句型“物体/人物A+be+形容词的比较级+than+物体/人物B(+be)。”。
  Key Points:              1.形容词“big ,small, heavy,light, dear,cheap”的运用。
  2.学生能听懂,会说主要句型“物体/人物A+be+形容词的比较级+than+物体/人物B(+be).”。
  Difficult Points:      1. 句型“物体/人物A+be+形容词的比较级+than+物体/人物B(+be).”的运用。
  Teaching  Aids:      1.大象,老鼠的图片各一张。
  2. 牛津字典一本。
  Teaching  Steps:
  Step One: A. Greetings.(1’)
  B. Warming up: Simon says(2’)
  o  Simon says : touch your nose
  o  Play basketball
  o  Simon says : put up your left hand
  o  Stand up
  o  Simon says : Attention
  老师说到最后一步时,学生的反应是说出“ONE ,TWO”。老师用这个游戏来缓解学生的紧张情绪。
  C. Review the words
  The teacher does the action or shows the pictures, then the students say it out and spell it.
  ◇ tall ,short ,strong ,weak ,young, old .
  同时,说到weak时,应适当地提醒学生它的同音词week。
  Step Two: Presentation (10’)
  (1)   big –small
  T: Look at the picture. What is this?
  Ss: It is  an  elephant.
  T: What is it like?
  Ss: It is big .
  T: Big .B-I-G,big.(板书)
  Ss: ……
  口诀:大的,大的,big ;big ,big ,big 。
  操练:小组。
  T: BIG的反义词是什么?
  Ss:小的,SMALL。
  T: Good .Small.S-M-A-L-L,small.(板书)
  Ss: ……
  口诀:小的,小的,small ;small ,small ,small。
  操练:小组。
  (2) heavy –light
  T: Look here. This is a dictionary. This is an English book. Which one is heavy, the right one or the left one? ( 老师右手拿起英语书,左手那起字典,比重。)
  Ss: The right one.
  T: Wonderful! This one is heavy.  Follow me, heavy.(板书)
  Ss: Heavy.
  口诀:重的,重的,heavy ; heavy, heavy, heavy。
  操练:boys and one by one 。
  注意:heavy的读音 y-/?/。
  T: heavy的反义词是……
  Ss: Light.
  T: Great. Light. L-I-G-H-T, light.(板书)
  Ss: ……
  口诀:轻的,轻的,light ; light, light, light。
  操练:girls and one by one 。
  (3)   dear –cheap
  拿出一个小小的腰包,让学生猜价格,来引出dear 和cheap。
  口诀:贵的,贵的,dear ; dear, dear, dear。
  操练: one by one.
  Step Three: Practice(2’)
  (1)   Read the whole words again.
  (2)   Touch game :学生看老师的嘴形说出单词,2位参赛者快速地拍打相应的图片,次数大概是1-2次。
  Step Four: Learn the sentences(10’)
  T: Just now, we learned the new words: dear and cheap .My bag is dear. His bag is cheap. So, my bag is dearer than his bag.猜猜我的包比他的包要怎么样?
  Ss: 贵的,dear。
  T: Yes. Good. Dearer. My bag is dearer than his bag.(板书)
  操练:小组(铅笔,书)
  T:那么这句话的同义句如何说呢?他的包比我的要……?
  Ss:便宜。Cheap.
  T: Cheaper. We can say :His bag is cheaper than my bag.
  操练:pair work(铅笔,书)
  Step Five :Practice the sentence(6’)
  T: Look at the blackboard. Here are some words .Read the words once.1.2.3.
  Ss: tall, short, young, old, strong, weak.
  T:他们都是直接在词后加er变为它的比较级。这里er发/?/,这里怎么读呢?
  S1:taller,shorter……
  T:用这些单词来造一个句子,例如:** is  taller  than  **.(叫同学做示范)还可以怎么样来描述他们呢?
  S2:……
  Step Six:(1) Check the  pair work.
  (2) Review the new words and new sentences.
